Pilot of ice boat who crashed given CPR

CPR was performed on the pilot of an ice boat who crashed on the Bay of Quinte. The OPP is warning the public about unsafe ice conditions after a 78-year old Ameliasburgh man died when his ice boat hit a pressure crack that jammed the front blade.

Icy ordeal

The incident occurred at around 3:40 PM near Rednersville Road. The residents saw what happened and one donned a floater suit and headed out on the ice to help the pilot.

With the help of other witnesses, the victim was brought to shore and CPR was started. The paramedics took over but were not successful in resuscitating the man. An autopsy will be carried out to confirm the cause of death but police stated that the incident is not considered suspicious.
