Edmonton First Aid now proudly offers 3M quantitative hearing protection fit testing at both it’s Edmonton training centres. This test meets the requirements of Alberta OH&S for hearing protection fit tests that are now required as of March 31st, 2023. Using specialized equipment, tests are completed to measure the effectiveness of the hearing protection device used in the workplace. Participants will also learn about fit, care, use, overprotection and selection of the hearing protection device. The test is completed at the training facility and successful participants will receive Alberta OH&S approved certificates that are valid for 1 year. How Much Does the Hearing Protection Fit Test cost?
The cost of the test is 32.99 plus GST.
Prerequisites for the Test
Participants must bring the hearing protection used from the workplace. Model name, brand and size must be provided to the testing instructor for certification.
How Does the Test Work?
Participants will wear the hearing protection device and the test will measure the amount of noise reduction the protection provides. This measure is referred to as the personal attenuation rating (PAR). The goal of the test is to reduce the likelihood of hearing loss by ensuring the protection effectively reduces the noise to a safe level.
Certification
Participants that successfully complete a hearing protection device fit test will receive certification that meets OH&S requirements and is valid for 1 year. Annual certification is required.

Refunds / Cancellations
Refunds and cancellations are free of charge prior to 72 hours to the test. Within 72 hours of the test participants can not receive any refund.
