Fines are given and more expected after Steinbach protest against pandemic rules

Despite the safety measures in place such as wearing masks, social distancing, and regular hand washing, many people are protesting against the protocols, especially on the wearing of masks. In a recent rally, it involved up to 100 individuals. The rally continued despite the request of the mayor of Manitoba to stop.

Several people who took part in the rally were issued tickets for violating the public health orders. The tickets were given out by the province but the Mounties were also present.

There were around 100 people who attended the protest. All these individuals were given fines after gathering in the Steinbach city hall.

Under the current pandemic restrictions, in-person gatherings involving more than five individuals are not allowed. The protocol is in place in an attempt to curb down the spread of COVID-19. Sadly, many people find the protocols limiting and take part in protests against the government.

Ten tickets were given out to people violating public health orders by gathering at a rally in Steinbach, Man., on Saturday afternoon to rail against those very pandemic restrictions.

During the protest, the Mounties blocked off Reimer Avenue and establishing a perimeter around the city hall of Steinbach. The area was closed off for safety precautions.

The group that organized the rally, “Hugs Over Masks” stated that they are protesting over the public health restrictions. These restrictions are taking away their freedom and causing mental health issues.
