Elderly woman dies despite CPR after house fire

An elderly woman died when a house fire occurred despite immediate delivery of CPR. The Calgary Fire Department stated that a woman who was found inside the front door was transported to a healthcare facility but she died of her injuries.

The incident involved a fire at a single-family house in northwest Calgary where an elderly woman died. The emergency crews were called to the location in the 2200 block of Ninth Avenue N.W. where they found flames and smoke coming out of the house.

Upon entering the house via a side entryway, they found the woman inside the front door. The fire crews performed CPR and the Calgary police stated that she was transported to a healthcare facility for treatment but she succumbed to her injuries.

The Calgary Fire Department stated that another person who resides at the house was not there at the time of the incident. The investigators are still checking the root cause of the fire.
