Drowning incident in Sturgeon River

A body recovered might be due to a possible drowning incident. The incident occurred west of North Bay in the Sturgeon River.

Danger in the water

According to OPP, a 57-year old man went under water in West Nipissing. He had been sitting on a chair on a wooden raft. When the chair broke, the man fell in the river.

The body was retrieved around 2 PM in Lake Nipissing, however the police are only stating that it could possibly be the same person. The office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Services are investigating the case.

The OPP stated that the identity of the deceased will not be released until the family has been notified.
