High-rise fire

The fire crews were called to the Scarborough apartment building. The flames were visible from the exterior of the tower on the 18th floor when they arrived.

One unit on that floor was fully involved and they managed to retrieve one person. The female victim was rushed to a healthcare facility in critical condition where she was later declared dead.

The woman was found with obvious signs of trauma in a bathtub. The police are treating both the fire and the death as suspicious and homicide detectives have been made aware of the incident.

According to a resident in the building, a firefighter was performing CPR on the woman as they were moving her out of the building on a stretcher. The police have been going door-to-door in the building to speak with the residents after the incident.
