Quebec hiker who collapsed given CPR

A 24-year old Quebec hiker who collapsed received CPR. The man from Saguenay collapsed while hiking with friends and died despite the extensive rescue efforts.

Hiking tragedy

According to Fish and Game officials, Simon Deschenes of Saguenay’s Chicoutimi borough was hiking on the Falling Waters Trail in Lincoln when he collapsed about four kilometers into the hike.

The other hikers performed CPR while conservative officers and other rescuers rushed to his aid. A New Hampshire National Guard helicopter flew to the scene to help. A litter was lowered and a medic airlifted Deschenes into the hovering helicopter and flew him directly to Littleton Regional Hospital where he was declared dead.

The authorities stated that Deschenes had travelled to New Hampshire to spend the Columbus Day holiday weekend hiking with friends.
