Paramedics thanks gym goers for rapid action in delivering CPR

Ottawa paramedics are thanking bystanders for saving the life of a man with CPR. The man suffered a heart attack on Friday morning.

Rapid action to save a life

A man in his 40s collapsed on a treadmill at the GoodLife Fitness on Hazeldean Road. A bystander rushed to the man’s aid, performing CPR while another gym-goer grabbed a defibrillator unit off the wall.

They attached the unit’s electrodes and delivered a single shock which restarted the man’s heart. The paramedics arrived and took the man to a healthcare facility where he is currently in critical condition.
