Ottawa paramedics are thanking bystanders for saving the life of a man with CPR. The man suffered a heart attack on Friday morning.
Rapid action to save a life
A man in his 40s collapsed on a treadmill at the GoodLife Fitness on Hazeldean Road. A bystander rushed to the man’s aid, performing CPR while another gym-goer grabbed a defibrillator unit off the wall.
They attached the unit’s electrodes and delivered a single shock which restarted the man’s heart. The paramedics arrived and took the man to a healthcare facility where he is currently in critical condition.
The prompt delivery of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can save a life. It is a life-saving technique that significantly improves the chances of survival during emergencies.
