John Klein grateful for CPR by rapid thinking Regina bike patrol

A Regina man is alive due to the rapid delivery of CPR by the Regina bike patrol. He suffered cardiac arrest while he was in Wascana Park.

Rapid thinking saves a life

John Klein, 34-years old was on his bike in the park when he realized that he was having some form of cardiac event. He stopped and become disoriented. After several minutes, he was helpless and slumped on a park bench. Two police officers on bikes – Cst. Anthony Rodier and Cst. Aaron Robertson came upon him and realized that he was under some form of medical distress.

CPR was performed and short after, the paramedics arrived on the scene to transport Klein to a healthcare facility.

Klein who was recovering from the episode and shudders to think how things would have turned out if the officers were not there at that time.

According to Insp. Corey Zaharuk who oversees that police bike patrol, Klein’s case shows how valuable the police patrol can be. The objective of the patrol is to ensure that police presence is available during those crowd events to respond to any emergencies.
