According to Candi Meadows, she had to drop off her daughter because it would violate the court order if she did not follow.

She dropped the 4-year old at Seasons Mediation and Family Services for the visit which soon became a tragedy.

Her husband, David fled from the supervised visit with the young girl around 2 PM. According to the witnesses, the 42-year old ran out into the traffic along with the girl at least twice crossing Vedder Road.

Based on the statement of Taylor Smith, she and another male intervened and tried to wrestle the girl away from David after which he fled and tackled by a civilian.

Soon after the Mounties arrived. Based on a statement, the man resisted arrest and a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) or Taser was utilized. The man went into medical distress. CPR was delivered by a Mountie and medical care was provided by the paramedics but he later died.

According to the wife of the man who died, it was not the first time that the man behaved in an erratic manner with the young girl.
