CPR performed on man under RCMP custody

A man who was under RCMP custody was given CPR. The BC police watchdog are investigating the death of a man who was under RCMP custody.

Unforeseen ordeal

According to the RCMP, a 40-year old was taken to a healthcare facility after a vehicle hit a tree in Kelowna. The man was cleared by the hospital staff and transported to a holding cell in the police station where he was later found unresponsive.

The officers initiated CPR and paramedics responded but the man was declared dead. The identity of the man and cause of death have not been released.

The Independent Investigations Office which probes all deaths or serious injuries involving police is looking into the case.
