2-year old B.C. girl dies after found unresponsive in pool

The RCMP found a toddler after she went missing from a daycare center. The young girl died after she was discovered unresponsive in a backyard pool.

The toddler was missing from a daycare center on Hawthorne Ave. and shortly found in an underground pool at a neighboring property. The child was found beneath a solar blanket.

Loss of life

According to RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve Crawford, the police got a 911 call from the daycare around 4:40 PM to report a missing toddler. She was last seen around 10 minutes before making the call.

Based on the reports, the girl was found in the underground swimming pool where the officers jumped in and brought her out and initiated CPR.

The police quickly responded and started to check the daycare center and neighboring properties.

The girl was transported to Mission Memorial Hospital where she was declared dead. According to Crawford, victim services are providing support to the family and those concerned to aid through the difficulty incident.
