A 37-year old man who was pulled from lake was given CPR. The man is in a life-threatening condition after being pulled from Lake Chaparral.
Rescue at the lake
The Calgary Fire Department had been at the man-made lake doing diver training when they were alerted to a person who was having difficulty in the water according to Calgary police.
The fire department stated that the man had been swimming in the lake when he started to struggle and went under water. The aquatics team members jumped into action, found the submerged man and pulled him out of the water in just minutes.
The team members performed CPR after retrieving the man and EMS took over patient care upon arrival at the site. The man was transported to the South Health Campus hospital.
It remains unclear why the man started to struggle while swimming stated EMS spokesman Darcy Vink. The incident is being treated as a near-drowning case.
The police stated that the situation was non-suspicious and strictly medical in nature. They are asking people to avoid the lake as the investigation continues.
