Dangers of fire
A man was rescued and given CPR on a front lawn during a house fire in North Surrey. The blaze started shortly before midnight near 116th Avenue and 140th Street.
According to Assistant Fire Chief Jason Cairney, when the crew arrived, 4 people were outside and they were notified that there was still somebody missing and assumed to be inside the building.
The crews assembled quickly to make an entry and perform a search for the person and ended up finding him on the second floor.
After he was rescued, it was discovered that the man did not have a pulse and was not breathing. The crews started CPR immediately and with the assistance of the ambulance crew and were able to restore a pulse and a little bit of breathing. The man was transported to a healthcare facility but the fire department did not have any information on his condition.
