A man who was taken into custody was given CPR. A probe was launched into the death of a man in RCMP custody. The British Columbia’s police watchdog is investigating after a man died in Kelowna RCMP’s lockup.

Death of man necessitates further investigation

Based on a release from the B.C. RCMP, the 40-year old man was transported to a healthcare facility after a vehicle struck a tree in Kelowna.

Edmonton first aid — Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is vital in improving the chances of survival during emergencies.

It was stated that the man was cleared by the hospital staff and transported to a holding cell where he was discovered unresponsive.

According to RCMP, the officers initiated CPR and the paramedics responded appropriately but the man was declared dead. The identity of the man and cause of death have not been released.

The Independent Investigations Office who investigates all deaths or serious injuries involving the police is looking into the case.
