CPR was given to a woman who was involved in an SUV accident. The Vancouver police are investigating a crash that left a pedestrian dead after she was struck by an SUV.
SUV incident
According to Vancouver Police Sgt. Randy Fincham, the 51-year old woman was hit just after 11 PM as she was crossing East 6th Avenue near the VCC-Clark Skytrain station at the north end of the Vancouver Community College.
The driver remained at the scene and the emergency crews performed CPR on the woman. She was taken to a healthcare facility where she was later declared dead.
It was raining heavily at the time of the crash and the police stated that the darkness and wet weather contributed to the collision.
According to the police and ICBC, there is an increase in accidents during wet dreary weather. During the last rainfall warning, police reported 34 serious crashes within a 24-hour timeframe.
Timely action
The prompt delivery of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during emergencies can save a life. The life-saving technique should be performed right away to improve the chances of survival.
