A 9-year old who was severely injured at Nakiska resort is a member of a ski racing program. The girl was discovered unconscious and unresponsive on Sunday after she crashed into a tree.
According to Matt Mosteller, spokesman for the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, it was a sad day for the team. The young girl is also a member of a race program at the mountain.
Skiing incident
Mosteller added that he did not know exactly what happened. The teams have great coaching staff as part of their programming. It is believed that the helmet of the girl came off in the collision.
According to the EMS, the girl was found by other skiers who immediately notified the Nakiska ski patrol. They administered CPR and transferred the girl off the hill to the medical facility.
Paramedics from Kananaskis met the patrollers at the base and asked STARS to attend. The girl was aggressively treated at the scene before she was transported by air in critical condition to the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
