Many eye clinics have reopened in Metro Vancouver this week as B.C. entered Phase 2 of its restart plan.
Before opening their doors, however, clinics had to implement new policies set out by WorkSafeBC.
The owner of the Hollyburn Eye Clinic stated that his business has already implemented several changes in recent weeks. Although the doors were locked, staff were present. If patients wanted to pick up something such as contacts or broken glasses that required urgent repair, there is a system in place. Upon reopening, the business has adapted and customers can expect more personal protective equipment, physical distancing, and sanitization.
In this clinic, patients might be screened or asked questions over the phone before they come in. The patients are asked to wait outside until their appointment to limit the amount of time they spend in the clinic.
When patients first walk in, they are met with a staff member at a table who will ensure that they are wearing a mask and have cleaned their hands. The staff will ask the patient for permission to take their temperature. The rooms where patients will see the doctor will be sterilized between visits.
