A 33- year old man received CPR after an incident involving a water scooter. Sadly, the man was declared dead after he was found face-down in the Bay of Quinte as a water scooter he was believed to have been driving circled unmanned nearby.
The OPP were called to a public boat launch on Bayview Drive, along the eastern edge of the Bay of Quinte. Someone called 911 to report a possibly intoxicated man was attempting to unload a jet ski at the boat launch.
As officers headed to the scene, the OPP was informed that a man and woman wearing life jackets were seen riding the jet ski in the Bay of Quinte. Nearly 20 minutes later, the OPP was informed that someone was performing CPR on a man at a residence on County Road 9, which also borders the Bay of Quinte not far away from the boat launch.
The man was found facing down in the water after another boater noticed the unmanned jet ski circling nearby. A bystander performed CPR as well as the police until the arrival of the paramedics.
