Ken Dakin prayed for a miracle after his wife and son were struck by lightning. The incident occurred on the weekend at their cabin on a west-central Saskatchewan lake. According to Dakin, a retired Mountie, he was on his knees and praying for his son and wife.
Lightning strike
Blaine Dakin, 29-years old, and his mother Terry were outside of the cabin on Jackfish Lake near Metinota. A thunderstorm had passed and along with others, helping at the cabin went back outside to do work.
Blaine was cutting wood using a chainsaw. Dakin stated that there was a loud bang and he saw a white flash to his right and it was right where his son was. Dakin and others rushed to the pair and started CPR. The immediate delivery of CPR was able to revive the mother but her son did not make it. Prompt CPR significantly increases the chances of survival in case of emergencies.
His wife was revived and she was hospitalized after sustaining burns to her neck and body. Sadly, Blaine did not survive the ordeal.
