The injured girl was lying on the floor while another student was holding her hand. A student, Baneet Braich was in the computer lab at Abbotsford Senior Secondary when she heard screams. Initially, she believed it was a Halloween prank but a girl covered in blood entered the room.

Helping out

The girl was yelling out for help. In just seconds, Baneet, a grade 12 student was able to comprehend what was happening. The teacher and 2 boys in the class who knew first aid rushed to the girl, assisting her down to the floor and keeping her calm.

One of Baneet’s friends held the hand of the girl and spoke supportive and encouraging words. The lockdown alarms sounded and the students knew what to do since they have practiced the procedures several times during the school drills.

They shut the blinds, closed and locked all the doors, and hid under the desks while others continued to perform first aid to the injured girl. Baneet and other students assisted by removing their shirts and sweaters to place over the wound and utilized pads to soak up the blood.
