It was a Saturday night when 7-year old Grayson Wu said that he felt that there is something wrong with his grandma when he requested for a snack and she did not reply.
Timely delivery of CPR
According to Grayson and his 10-year old brother Kian Wu, she was unconscious on the couch. She looked dead and drooling.
It was Nov. 10 and the brothers were on a sleepover at their grandmother’s house in Saskatoon. They were watching a movie with 62-year old Patti Chatterson who experienced a massive heart attack and progressed into a full-blown cardiac arrest.
According to the brothers, it was scary, and they did not want to let their grandmother die, so they acted.
Training day
According to Lee Chatterson Wu, she did not plan on teaching CPR to her young boys. Back in June, Kian had a sleepover party to celebrate his 10th birthday. The boys were all playing downstairs.
There was a little boy whose parents are medical professionals and they have taught their kids. The children were all downstairs watching a movie and heard the little boy yell out “It’s cardiac arrest, start CPR”. It was then her boys asked to teach them.
As a nurse, Lee taught the boys the basics. It involves where to do compressions, how to do the compressions, breaths, plugging the nose and covering the mouth.
