The government issued several protocols in an attempt to curb down the spread of COVID-19. As the cases of COVID-19 continues to increase, these safety measures aim to put on a stop to the continuous spread of the pandemic. The organizer of a recent rally was given a $2,300 fine for disobeying the provincial health orders. The protest occurred in the downtown of Kelowna.
The fine was given for violating the provincial health orders that are meant to limit the spread of COVID-19 which bans public gatherings. As many people gather, it increases the risk for a potential “spreader” event that can augment the already rising cases.
The protestors rallied in the streets of downtown Kelowna. Officers were present to thwart any confrontations among the protesters and the residents as well as motorists.
There were around 1,000 people who attended the rally. According to the RCMP, they will enforce the guidelines under the COVID Related Measures Act. People in the city must follow the provincial health orders as a way to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
