The quick delivery of CPR saved the life of a father. Teen recognized for timely action when her father experienced a heart attack. It was the first time she had ever called 911.
A 14-year old girl was recognized for helping her father when he collapsed from cardiac arrest. Her father, 47-years old collapsed at home after returning from a jog. She called 911 while her mother and sister performed CPR.
The teen shared that it was her first time to call 911. Everything she learned about it when she was a kid went out of the window due to the nerves and the fear. But she is thankful that her father is alive today.
While her mother performed CPR on her father, the teen relayed instructions from the dispatcher. CPR was continued until the arrival of the paramedics and firefighters. The emergency responders defibrillated her father twice to restore a normal heartbeat. The teen’s father suffered a heart attack which caused his heart to stop beating properly.
When his pulse was restored, he was transported to a hospital, where a stent was placed in his chest to open up the blocked blood vessels in his heart. He has since recovered and doing well.
