A man in his 20s died despite receiving CPR. The incident occurred at Whistler Blackcomb, just days after the resort opened to skiers and snowboarders.
Danger on the slopes
The 27-year old snowboarder who was not identified publicly was found unresponsive shortly after noon. He was found near a “gladed area” of Blackcomb Mountain called Arthur’s Choice.
Only a few details have been provided but officials stated that a member of the public called 911 who then alerted Blackcomb Ski Patrol.
A bystander performed CPR on the snowboarder until ski patrol reached the location and took over, soon followed by a support team equipped with an AED defibrillator. Sadly, the efforts could not save the life of the man and he was declared dead an hour after ski patrol reached his location.
