For a long time, health officials advised against wearing a face mask in public places. It was in mid-May when the chief medical officer changed her stance and officially recommended people to wear either medical or homemade face masks in spaces where physical distancing is not possible.
In Toronto, the mayor voted in favor of making face masks mandatory in indoor public settings. Peel region mayors and health officials have done the same. In Quebec, Cote Saint-Luc has become the first town in the province to make face masks mandatory in indoor spaces.
