Police thanks bystanders by providing first aid to a woman

Toronto Police are very grateful for a group of bystanders in providing first aid on a woman in a hit and run incident. According to the police the woman was immediately brought to the hospital with what they describe as serious injuries.

Timely intervention

The police are looking for the driver of the dump truck who is the suspect of hitting a pedestrian. The incident happened near the intersection of Bloor Street West and South Kingsway around 8 in the morning.

According to a witness who was in the area when the incident happens, said the woman was hit by the dump truck and dragged his body a few miles. The driver of the dump truck just continued driving did not bother to stop.  The witness immediately provided first aid on the victim. Some crews of the transit commission, who were working in the area, dropped what they are doing and tried to help.

These people did not hesitate when they saw somebody needed help. Some helped in providing first aid on the victim with severe injuries. Other workers hopped on their cars and chased down the suspect.

They followed the dump truck until they reach the area near Park Lawn road and the Queensway. They were able to box the suspect on the road. The driver of the truck was able to jump out of the truck and again run away.

While the workers were chasing the driver of the truck, they passed by a group of construction workers in a parking lot. They told them what happened, and the construction workers joined them in chasing the suspect.

The group followed the suspect until they reached a ravine. They found the suspect at the bottom of a gully. Later the police arrived in the area and arrested the suspect. According to the Toronto Police Traffic Services, Sgt. Alex Crews said he can’t remember the time something like this is happening.

Furthermore, Crews is grateful for the citizens of Toronto, when they are called to help, they will surely step up to the plate and help.

The police are planning to nominate the group of TTC workers or the Toronto transport commission and the construction workers to be given a community award for their efforts.
