Man who died in the workplace accident was given CPR

A man was given CPR after a fatal workplace accident in Delta. The WorkSafeBC is investigating a fatal incident.

Danger in the workplace

The man is declared dead after a workplace accident in Annacis Island. The WorkSafeBC was called in to investigate the accident, after an employee of Van Wasteco Inc. apparently fell from the top of a rail car. CPR was performed at the time of his fall, but sadly he died.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an essential skill that can save a life.

According to WorkSafeBC spokesperson Ally Skinner-Reynolds, it appears that the man fell about 18-20 feet to the ground. It remains unclear what he was doing on top of the rail car.

Skinner-Reynolds added that the man fell, CPR was performed and transported to Royal Columbian Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
