She had a vague recollection on how to administer CPR which she learned from Girl Guides more than 50 years ago. The Terrace, B.C. resident followed the instructions given the 911 emergency dispatcher as she knelt beside her husband in the kitchen.
Saving each other’s lives
According to Diana, the 911 operator provided clear instructions. While she was doing it, the task was life-threatening and very emotional as well as scary. Luckily, her husband is with her now and have been married for 56 years.
The great part of the story is that Barrie also saved the life of Diana only 4 years prior. According to Diana, it is like a fairy tale. He saved her life and had to pay him back by saving his.
The scene was the same but Barrie called on his Canadian military training to help him through in delivering CPR. It was back in August 2011 when he woke up during the night to discover Diana struggling to breathe.
Diana was quickly transported to Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace and later to Vancouver General Hospital where she had to undergo surgery and her condition stabilized.
