It took only one day for a Catholic Central student to utilize his CPR training to good use and saved the life of his father.
Saving a life
There was a renewed call from Essex-Windsor EMS for residents to get their CPR training which prompted CPR to be offered even in schools. Turki Ayash, 17-years old and his family came to Canada as Syrian refugees three years ago.
Ayash took CPR training in November as part of the school’s Phys Ed class and did not imagine that he would even have to use it. The next day he was able to save the life of his 49-year old father.
Ayash is truly thankful. He stated that the school saved his and the life of his father. He was glad to learn the class and eager to learn it better to help others. The Grade 11 student was celebrated by Essex-Windsor EMS by receiving a certificate and a service coin.
