Steve Sawatzky was given CPR when he went into cardiac arrest. Around 2 dozen Winnipeg firefighter paramedics took turns in delivering CPR on one of their own for almost an hour after he collapsed at a work barbeque at Tinkertown.

After facing issues with the on-site automated external defibrillator (AED), his co-workers took turns in performing CPR to keep Sawatzky alive for almost an hour. Upon arrival of the ambulance, Sawatzky was transported to St. Boniface Hospital where he is recovering.
