The firefighters pulled a man from the house. The East Vancouver apartment suite was filled with thick, black smoke.
The man was in the suite at the time. The crews found him and brought him out right away. CPR was quickly started at the exterior of the building. The man suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to a hospital by an ambulance.
The firefighters were called to the four-level building on Wall Street near Oxford Park and were able to quickly extinguish the flames. The residents had to be evacuated from the building to ventilate the smoke.
Importance of first aid training
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) can save a life. Prompt delivery of life-saving techniques improves the chances of survival during emergencies.
