A family from Prince Edward Island found the Good Samaritan who saved the life of their daughter 21 years ago.
Saving a life
Emma Taylor was just only 11 days old when the incident happened. She became unresponsive in her car seat. The day after the family from Prince Edward Island announced publicly their hopes to reconnect with the people who have helped save the life of their daughter 21 years ago, and these good Samaritans have been found.
The parents of Emma, Mary and Shawn posted on Facebook that they were looking for the good Samaritans who have stopped at the road near Springvale, P.E.I. These people provided first aid and CPR on their 11-day old baby who became unresponsive in her car seat.
Mary recalled during the incident that two vehicles had stopped in the area, one a car with a woman inside who provided first aid and CPR on the baby and a van with a couple inside and brought Emma to the hospital.
The son of the Samaritan who provided first aid on the baby recognized the story and contacted the parents of Emma. According to Mary, the son of the woman was also in the car and he remembered the incident 21 years ago. He is now living in Saskatchewan. Mary and the Samaritan talked to each other by phone. They shared stories from that day and other things that were remembered. Mary told her about Emma and already a grown up girl and the Samaritan was very excited to hear that. Mary thought the Samaritan was a nurse, but it turned out that she was a well-trained in first aid. Mary has good memories of this Samaritan. She has a calm and assuring voice and took control of the situation. The Samaritan and her son want to stay anonymous.
The Samaritan told Mary that she always thinks about the baby every time she passes by the spot on Highway 2, where a young mother hysterically trying to stop other cars to help them. Emma is now a 21-year-old grown up young lady and a student at UPEI and wants to the meet the Good Samaritan in person.
