The medical officer of health of Ottawa encourages everyone to wear a face mask when physical distancing is not possible. It provides an additional layer of protection to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
This can make a difference in reducing transmission in the community. Just recently, the new policy of OC Transpo implemented the use of face masks mandatory on all buses, the O-Train, Para Transpo vehicles, and all stations. The Ottawa Public Health strongly recommends that people wear face masks when physical distancing is not possible to limit the spread.
The medical officer of health also stated that it is important for all Ottawa residents to continue to follow the COVID-19 guidelines including physical distancing and wearing a face mask when possible.
