A grandmother who was involved in a deadly accident was given CPR. The vehicle involved in a fatal accident that claimed that life of a B.C. grandmother who was praying in her driveway. The driver is now in the custody of the RCMP but he has not been arrested.
Unforeseen ordeal
Shinlin Chu, 88-years old was steps away from the front door of her family’s Coquitlam, B.C. home when she was hit and run over.
The driver of the silver vehicle drove away and the investigators are not sure if the driver even knew that they struck someone before they decided to pull onto the road. Chu was a devout Buddhist and often sat in the driveway to pray.
According to the family, the person behind the wheel was a patient at the acupuncture clinic that is run inside the home and was leaving an appointment. According to Yves Chu, the drivers were probably not paying attention. A neighbor, Trevor Stewart agrees stating the clients come and go often and may not have noticed the senior praying.
Stewart and his wife Angele Chaput ran onto the property and performed CPR on the injured senior before the paramedics arrived. Originally listed in serious condition, the elderly succumbed to her injuries in just hours. According to Chaput, the woman prayed outside every day and was known as the unofficial greeter of her son’s clinic.
The vehicle is now in the hands of the RCMP, although it is not known if the driver turned themselves in.
