The family of a man who crashed in the Sumas River wants to meet the Good Samaritan who rescued him.
Bryan Volden, 65-years old was with loved ones including his wife Solveig and his 2 daughters who grew up in Abbotsford.
Vehicular accident
Volden was leaving McDonald Park when his 2002 PT Cruiser steered off the roadway. He hit some wooden posts, veered across the parking lot and landed in the river.
According to Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald, the man might have suffered medical distress which led to the incident.
The vehicle was more than halfway in the water. A 45-year old man on the scene smashed a window in the vehicle and pulled Volden to safety. He performed CPR until the emergency responders arrived on the scene.
The family members of Volden would like to meet the Good Samaritan. The Abbotsford Police were trying to set up a get-together. The family would like to thank the man who risked his life to save the Volden.
