A 45-year old Calgary woman died despite CPR in the Mabel Lake Provincial Park. Based on the police report, the woman was swimming and started to have trouble breathing and going into medical distress.
Distress in the water
The Lumby RCMP responded to the Mabel Lake Provincial Park to help the B.C. Ambulance Service who were already on the scene attempting to resuscitate the woman.
The woman was rushed ashore where a retired nurse delivered CPR until the B.C. Ambulance arrived and continued with the life-saving efforts, including CPR for up to 30 minutes. Sadly, despite the efforts of all concerned, the woman was not revived and declared dead at the scene.
