A B.C. trucker rescued a Chemainus woman found unconscious on side of highway with CPR. As a seasoned truck driver for 3 decades, Gord Price was the third big rig to leave the DCT Chambers Trucking yard in Chemainus when he spotted something in the periphery of his headlights.
Roadside ordeal
As he started quickly making his way back up the dark section of the highway, Price was able to flag down a pickup truck who spun around and put its headlights onto an unconscious Patricia Galloway. She was laying directly beside the cement barricade in only her white housecoat and pair of shoes.
Upon checking, her pulse was light. While on the phone to 911 dispatch, Price called out to the woman to try and get a response. Her eyes fluttered underneath her eyelids. Galloway could not recall much and a bit overwhelmed. She was told that she likely suffered a minor stroke.
The BC Ambulance, Chemainus firefighters and RCMP arrived on the scene and Galloway was placed onto a backboard and rushed to Cowichan General Hospital.
