A man who fell into the Bow River was given CPR. The emergency crews responded to call of up to two people in the water near Graves Bridge.
Timely intervention
Based on the initial reports, a man fishing had witnessed another man who was also fishing nearby fall into the water and could not get himself up and out. The man was swept away by the current. The angler who saw this quickly went into the river after the submerged man, swam to him, pulled him onto the shore and initiated CPR.
Upon the arrival of the fire crews, they took over CPR and the man was transferred to a healthcare facility. It remains unknown how the man ended up submerged in the water.
The angler who dove into the river in a rescue attempt was unharmed but felt very cold according to the fire department. The rescuer placed himself at risk to save the life of a fellow angler.
