Two officers were involved in an altercation that resulted to injuries. The officer has 28 years of service and his name was not released. A 44-year old officer sustained serious gunshot wounds in a shooting. According to Ontario’s police watchdog, it involve 2 members of the Niagara Regional Police Service.
Issue between officers
The Special Investigations Unit stated that it was checking into an altercation between 2 officers where one sustained a gunshot wound at around noon in Pelham, Ont.
According to Monica Hudon, SIU spokeswoman, the officer was transported to a healthcare facility for emergency care and then airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital. Determining what happened and the relationship between the officers is part of the SIU’s investigation. There was an altercation and a firearm was discharged and one officer was hit.
Hudon added that the agency designated 11 investigators, including 3 forensic specialists to handle the case. It is still early in the investigation and there have been no arrests made.
