An Abbotsford man who died after an accident received CPR. The incident occurred while the man was working on his vehicle.
Trapped under a vehicle
According to assistant Fire Chief Dave Rivett, the fire, police and ambulance crews responded to reports that a man was trapped under a vehicle. The call came in from the man’s wife who had been out and arrived home to find her husband pinned under the car.
The crews utilized the Jaws of Life to lift the vehicle off the man. The incident occurred on a property on Downes Road between Mt. Lehman and Ross roads. The precise location has not been released.
An air ambulance was called, with a landing zone set up in the field at Mennonite Educational Institute on Downes Road east of the accident scene. The man was transported by ambulance to the field, and crews performed CPR as the helicopter arrived but the air ambulance did not transport him. According to Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald, the man died while on the way to a healthcare facility.
