4 people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries and some with minor injuries after a medical cart was driven at a very fast speed into the stage. According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the suspect was being treated and provided with medical care and first aid by some first aid staff.
Prompt intervention
The suspect stole the medical cart and began attacking people, and began driving it up until it reached the stage where a Curiosity Musical Festival was going on.
A woman named Jessica Laplante and her boyfriend named Dustin Stoelwinder were among those wounded at the electronic music festival.
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, a suspect is a man in his 20’s. They are also charging him with robbery and assault using a weapon. The incident happened at the Snug Lake Amphitheater located along Pike Mountain Forest Service Road in Princeton, B.C. around 2 in the morning.
Furthermore, the police said that there were 7 people who were injured, and 4 people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The suspect was first detained by security people before arrested by policemen.
Before the incident, Laplante recalled that they were entering the stage by the family camping area when they were suddenly hit by an off-road vehicle. People are already panicking. I saw ATV on the stage. I could not find my boyfriend and I started to be panicky and really scared. Then I looked over, on my left, I saw my boyfriend lying on the ground and unconscious. I saw a paramedic already providing first aid on my boyfriend. Some people were around them. Some people are already lying on the ground.
Laplante has injuries on her ankle, thigh, and the elbow, while her boyfriend suffered a fractured neck. According to the organizer of the festival, their security people and medical staff reacted very fast to an unexpected incident. The medical staff of the festival provided first aid to those injured people in the best possible way they can provide.
According to the police, the suspect was not from Princeton. He was released from custody with the promise to appear in court. Substance use or alcohol was believed to have been the cause of the crash.
