Frequently Asked Questions
CPR Level C is a certification that covers adult, child, and infant CPR, plus choking response, AED use, and rescue breathing techniques. It’s more comprehensive than Level A, making it a better choice for those who may need to respond to emergencies involving all age groups.
You should take CPR Level C if you:
- Work with or care for infants, children, or family settings
- Have roles in education, childcare, camps, or sports
- Want a more complete certificate than basic adult-only CPR
- Need a certificate recognized by organizations or employers requiring full CPR coverage
If you only care for adults, Level A might suffice — but many organizations prefer or require Level C.
Typically, a CPR Level C course takes about 5 hours, depending on class size, instructor style, and the amount of practice time allotted.
Hands-on training and skills assessments are integral parts of the course.
You’ll learn:
- Adult, child, and infant CPRÂ (compressions + rescue breaths)
- Use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
- Choking intervention for all age groups
- Scene assessment, responder safety, and legal/ethical considerations
- Demonstrated hands-on practice and competency testing
No prior experience is required. Participants should:
- Be able to follow instructions in English (or the language offered)
- Be physically able to kneel and perform compressions
- Bring a photo ID
- Wear comfortable clothes suitable for movement
The cost is $73.99.
We also offer group, workplace, or on-site training discounts.
Your CPR Level C certificate (issued under St Mark James Training) is valid for three (3) years.
You’ll need to recertify before it expires to keep the skills and certification current.
Yes — if your CPR Level C certificate is still valid, you may take a recertification course to extend it.
If your certificate has expired, you will likely be required to take a full CPR Level C course again.
Yes. CPR Level C is far more commonly accepted than Level A in many settings — including childcare, recreation, and many employer safety policies — because it covers all age ranges.
However, whether CPR Level C alone is sufficient depends on the workplace. Some workplaces require full first aid + CPR certification (Emergency or Standard First Aid) to meet Alberta OHS standards.
Under Alberta’s rules, approved first aid training agencies must comply with CSA Standard Z1210-17 and be approved by OHS for courses that serve as workplace first aid.
